Stretching the leash to the brink

Cypress Health Region - Palliser Regional Care Centre

We understand that our workplace is our resident’s home and we do our best to accommodate everyone’s needs.

We know the families are upset with increased wait times but when you reduce the number of workers from 9-10 at a time to 6-7 and you increase the amount of residents who need extra attention from 6 to 12 in one area something is going to give.

If staff had more input on how workloads are organized, we would be able to stem this issue.

  1. This government cares not what the staff thinks, or anyone else, for that matter. The Health Minister's mandate is clear, and the Regions have fallen on their knees to kiss the proverbial backsides of their funding body, to ensure their own paycheques and bonuses. Welcome to the "Wall vision" of health care delivery. His agenda is that of the old Reform Party...dismantle the Health Care system, and replace with for-profit private services, with contracts awarded to party faithful and big business cronies. They must first destroy it from within, step by step.
If you don't think things can get any worse, think again. Wall in power for another term should pretty much finish the job.
The only thought scarier is Harper being re-elected, and left to re-negotiate the federal health care payouts to the provinces come 2013/2014, if there are any.

  2. This is elder abuse and Cypress Health Region should be held to task for this. You cannot expect care providers to be responsible for unsafe care when they are not provided with adequate resources. Remember - this is the home of the resident, and the families who place them in the facility expect compassionate quality care. Who should be accountable - the poor care provider who shows up at work and learns they have no assistance or the employer who has put them in that situation. Shame on you, Cypress Health Region!
